
Southdown Under-10’s came from behind against Elite Development Coaching FC (EDC) to secure the Crawley League Cup trophy in a thrilling final on Sunday 29 March.
After a shaky and nervous start from Southdown which saw the team, going 1-0 down after 5 minutes, the Burgess Hill based outfit settled down shortly afterwards and equalised with a fantastic strike. Just before the half time whistle Southdown scored again with the same player doubling his tally for the day with incredible strike.
EDC put up a real battle in the second half, striking the post twice and producing some fine saves from Southdown’s young goalkeeper.
Southdown sealed the victory 10 minutes into the second half with their striker getting his hat-trick with an unbelievable run and shot from outside the box. The match finished 3-1.
Southdown’s Rolls-Royce centre back was awarded the player of the match by the organisers and ref, as he dominated the back line and got the team playing out from the back. Southdown’s victory was a real squad performance, as all 11 players managed to get minutes and contributed to the result.
