Southdown hosted Hassocks Hawks for an exciting double header of matches at Leylands as both sides put on a display of whirlwind attacking football in the hours before Storm Cara swept into town.

The wet weather of recent weeks took its toll as the teams were reduced to a single pitch with parts of the Leylands pitch too boggy to play on.

The single pitch meant lots of rolling subs to give everyone game time and in the first match Hassocks were able to put together some fluid moves to take advantage of Southdown's ever changing line-up and put away some well worked goals. As the game developed Southdown settled down and started to create chances of their own testing Hassock's goalkeeper and earning a succession of corners.

The second game saw a much more even context from the outset with Southdown pressing and closing down the opposition, winning the ball close to the Hassocks goal and creating a number of chances. Southdown's defence worked hard and kept Hassocks to long-shorts which were well dealt with by the goalkeeper. Southdown got a reward for their hard work towards the end of the game when a precise pass down right wing was latched on to and tucked away with a neat finish to ensure the game ended on a high for the home players and fans.
